Garbanzo Bean Curry (Chole)

12 Therefore, brothers, we have an obligation—but it is not to the sinful nature, to live according to it. 13For if you live according to the sinful nature, you will die; but if by the Spirit you put to death the misdeeds of the body, you will live, 14 because those who are led by the Spirit of God are sons of God. Romans 8




Ingredients:
2 tbsp olive oil
1 onion diced
1 tsp minced garlic
1 tsp minced ginger
2 cups cooked garbanzo beans (e.g. canned without preservatives)
1 cup crushed tomatoes (fresh pureed or canned)
2 sliced jalapenos
1/2 cup water
1/4 cup chopped cilantro
2 tsp salt
1 tsp turmeric
2 tsp chosen ground spices (cloves, saffron, cardamom, cumin, lemon, chole powder, curry powder, cardamom, garam masala, etc.)
1 tbsp lemon juice (optional)
cilantro leaves for garnish

Directions:
1. fry the onions, salt, turmeric, ginger, and garlic in the oil on high heat until onions are translucent
2. add the beans, cilantro, and spices and fry for 3 minutes
3. add the tomato, jalapenos, and water and bring to a boil
4. reduce heat to medium low and simmer for 15-20 minutes
5. add lemon juice and pour into serving dish
6. add cilantro garnish
